Three events have affected the growth and activity of Sociology. These events occurred in Europe in the 18th century.

The first of these events is an ideological revolution . Philosophers and thinkers of the period sought change the way humans understand the meaning of humanity, rejecting the ecclesiastical doctrine and introducing an alternative vision of humanity based on rational thinking and the empirical sciences.

The second important event that contributed to the building of sociology  is the French Revolution which shook not only France but Europe and North America. The absolutist monarchies or seriously threatened or dissolved under pressure from emerging social classes in politics and demands for democratic political representation rights.

The Industrial Revolution is the third key factor in shaping sociology. Sociological thought from the beginning associated with the problems created by the emergence of industry in the stage of history, both social problems (classes of classes and relations between them) and political ( kinds of political regimes and related policy options)
