Three events have affected the
growth and activity of Sociology. These events occurred in Europe in the 18th century.
The first of these events is an
ideological revolution . Philosophers and thinkers of the
period sought change the way humans understand the meaning of
humanity, rejecting the ecclesiastical doctrine and introducing an
alternative vision of humanity based on rational thinking andthe empirical sciences.
