The occupation of sociologist
Teacher: The Sociologists can work in public and private education as
permanent teachers (for appointment to those who have prior education
pedagogy and teaching proficiency from ASPAITE), as teachers in
public and private schools, CEC (requires subscription EKEPIS) IVT in at
Second Chance Schools and other schools (Schools Employment Agency,
Armed Forces Schools etc.).
Public companies and organizations: The Sociologists can be employed in
other public bodies dealing with information on employment issues, such
as gender Offices Schools and Vocational Guidance, Career Services
Offices at universities / colleges, consultants as apprenticeship
schools in Labour's Employment Agency, as Consulting services to local
and Employment Promotion Centres (KPA) in Social Welfare Organizations.
Also can work as a director in the public / private and broader public
sector. Sociologists post-graduate diploma in forensic science can work
in prisons / Prison and Probation Service for Minors. Finally able to
work in units of Social Rehabilitation Drug Rehabilitation (OKANA,
Centers for Disease Prevention) and Mental Health.
Research: Although research opportunities are limited in Greece, some
sociologists (PhD, Masters or graduates) can be employed as seasonal or
permanent staff to research done by the National Centre for Social
Research and at several other research centers and institutes conduct
research. Finally, sociologists can be employed as a seasonal staff for
completing questionnaires and ask the National Statistical Service of
Greece.
Private Entities: The Sociologists can work as journalists in
newspapers, magazines, television, radio as well as in cultural,
ecological and humanitarian non-governmental organizations and
associations.
