Sociology of Education
The Sociology of education is a branch of sociology. Presents
education as a complex social institution knowledge transfer and
reproduction of existing social, economic and cultural structures.
It examines the development of the educational institution through
the key theories that explain the structure and main functions of
education and its relationship with wider changes in education
systems, especially in West.
Education is often seen as a fundamentally optimistic human endeavor
characterized by aspirations for progress and improvement. Provided,
by many, as a means to overcome obstacles to achieve greater equality
and to acquire wealth and social status. Education is perceived as a
place where children can develop according to individual needs and
capabilities. Many would say that the purpose of education should be
to help the individual to develop their capabilities to the fullest
and give him a chance to succeed in life you allow the natural
abilities. Few would argue that any educational system achieves this
goal perfectly. Some take a rather negative light, arguing that the
education system is designed with the intent to bring the social
reproduction of inequality.
